CANA Annual General Meeting

Chinese American Nurses Association (CANA) held its 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Confucius Mannings Pharmacy Conference Room (36-22 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11354) from 10am to 2pm.  The AGM is a yearly meeting to give members an update on the committees’ activities and a finance report for the previous year. It is an opportunity for CANA to inform the members of what CANA has accomplished during the year.

At the meeting, the committee directors gave reports about their respective committees and shared information with CANA members. Dr. Mei R. Fu, (Director of Scholarship Committee) and NYC Councilman Peter Koo presented scholarship awards to two recipients, Susan Lee and Xiaolu Li-Herrera, who both study at Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing in the Bachelor Nursing Program. Each recipient received a check of $1,500.00 from the CANA Scholarship Program.  Our guest speaker, Dr Huai Liang Feng (Specialist in Reproductive Medicine, Reproductive Biology and Embryology, Professorship of Obstetrics and Gynecology) gave us a special presentation on “Advances in In-Vitro Fertilization and Egg Freezing” for our members. The presentation empowered women by shedding new light on additional reproductive options.

This was a successful AGM and I appreciate all CANA board members who contributed their time and effort in helping CANA. Their enthusiasm to carry out CANA’s mission makes CANA visible in the community and drives support from our members. I look forward to seeing you at our future CANA events.
